Malta International Airport
About our airport...
To be able to cater for an ever-increasing number of passengers, the company has consistently invested in the terminal since the airport’s privatisation in 2002. The airport campus itself has grown to provide over 1,500 parking spaces, and 14,000m² of office and retail space housed within SkyParks Business Centre, with projects in the offing set to bring about further expansion. The airport team is guided by a vision of service excellence, which has landed MIA among the top five airports in ACI’s prestigious Airport Service Quality Awards for the past 9 years. To maximise its contribution to Malta’s cultural heritage and environment, MIA set up the Malta Airport Foundation, an independently run non-profit organisation, which will be unveiling three projects in 2018.
...and our team
The MIA Team is formed every couple of years to participate in the European Airports Football Championship. Between the 3rd and 5th June of 2016, the team took part in the 17th edition of this championship in Vienna. The team brought together players from the Airport, Air Malta, Lufthansa Technik, the AFM and Customs. Having played a total of 8 matches in 3 days, the team succumbed to Moscow Domodedovo in a penalty shoot-out following a draw in the final, securing second place from a total of 12 teams. This year, the team will also include other players coming from SRT, Medavia, Aviation Cosmetics, MCM and Aviaserv. In anticipation of this year’s Championship all players have come together to organise regular 5-a-side matches to further prepare for such an event.
